RAIN TREE

In Kochi, The old Raintree stands tall, an outsider to the land yet intimately intertwined with my family’s home. The raintree leans towards our dwelling, bearing witness to three generations’ stories. The Raintree, for me, becomes a totem, embodying the stories of migration, adaptation, memory, and land.

The series of images captures the essence of constant change, where time and memory intertwine. The family and Tree are juxtaposed with archives and digital photographs in various printing methods using time and memory of light. In the process, I am reminded of the fleeting nature of our existence. The visual representation is a testament to resilience, showcasing the interplay between the past and present.

The Raintree became a compass to navigate the routes of my family. Its resilient bark preserved the stories of my family. This visual journey encompasses not only the physicality of the tree but also the temporary impressions it leaves on our collective memory. The resulting imagery is a tribute to our roots, a testament to the intricate web of stories and experiences that shape our familial heritage.
