URBAN MYTHS

Display at Kochi Muzris biennale - Students biennale | Duration - 6 mins
A series of Para-fictional oral stories in the form of photographs and charcoal animation centred on local historical characters and events in the history of Kochi. The spectres and faint whispers of the dark past float off the walls in several parts of Kochi as the artist captures their traces and appearances. With time and memory, a whole culture has evolved around these stories. The air has witnessed the effects of time and space and has immortalized the stories by never forgetting them. The air uses the elements of land, fire, and water to introduce the characters. -Kaapiri Muthappan's link to the land, Namiya Mootha's connection to the fire, and Kunji Marakkar's relation to the water.
